This Morning host Holly Willoughby has issued a letter to her fans begging them to vote for her colleague Alison Hammond at tonight's (5 September) National Television Awards amid fears the show could face a tough night.The NTAS are one of the biggest nights in the TV calendar, and they will see This Morning compete for the Daytime award, while Alison is in the running for the Best Presenter gong.This Morning is seeking to defend its best daytime show title as the programme continues to face backlash amid the furore of the Phillip Schofield scandal.
Holly urged her fans to vote for Alison following her first day back on This Morning on Monday, 4 September. In a newsletter sent to subscribers of her lifestyle website, Wylde Moon, Holly wrote: "Having been lucky enough to have this summer break to focus on the children, it’s now lovely to be back on the sofa, and there was certainly joy in abundance with Alison Hammond today!" She continued: "This wonderful lady has been nominated in the best presenter category at tomorrow night’s NTAs, and there is still time to vote for her. "So, if you’ve ever been filled with joy by The Hammond…and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?!…then you know what to do!" Alison, 48, is up against Claudia Winkleman, Ant and Dec, Bradley Walsh and Martin Lewis in the presenter category as she looks to win it for the first time.
While This Morning is up against Loose Women, The Chase and The Repair Shop. If the show does win the famous award, it will be the 13th year in a row that they have done so.
When they won last year, the whole team walked onto the stage to accept the award.This year, due to budget cuts, there will reportedly not be as many staff from the show attending the prestigious event.
