Prince William made a statement as he stepped out in style at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick on Thursday evening. In a subtle nod to the flick's iconic Captain Maverick and his own background as a trained RAF helicopter pilot, the 39 year old arrived on the red carpet in a pair of black velvet loafers embroidered with F18 planes. The fighter aircraft is the same one used in the original 1986 action movie, starring Tom Cruise, who also joined William and his wife Kate Middleton at the hotly-anticipated movie event.
Father-of-three William's style choice didn't go amiss with fans, with one person tweeting: "Aren't William's shoes so cool." "Love the shoes way to go," another said, while a third added: "I love the plane detail on Prince William's shoes!" William completed the rest of his look with a smart fitted midnight blue velvet tuxedo atop a white shirt and black bow tie.
Kate also stunned as she took to the red carpet in a gorgeous monochrome Roland Mouret dress, which she had altered to make it less revealing. The original dress featured a sheer mesh lace panel as well as a long exposed gold zipper at the back.
However, Kate's dress was altered to get rid of the detail, instead featuring a simple black back to not deviate from the rest of the elegant monochrome look.
