A family has been left heartbroken after finding their horse was hit by a train in Denton. Monty was found dead by the tracks behind Dane Bank 11 days after a broken fence was reported to Network Rail due to concerns about the safety of animals living on the field.
Around 15 people had to drag the seven-year-old horse's body through several fields after it was discovered on Sunday (February 18).
But the late horse's owners say they still haven't heard back from Network Rail, who they hold responsible for not fixing the fence.
Network Rail has said it is 'very sorry' to hear about the 'tragic death' of the horse and is 'thoroughly investigating' the circumstances surrounding the 'heartbreaking incident'.
