A jealous husband called 999 to say "I've just murdered my wife in her bed" and "there's blood everywhere" after killing her and her new lover in a New Year's Day "bloodbath". "Sadistic" former headteacher Rhys Hancock has been jailed for at least 31 years for the frenzied knife attack against his estranged wife Helen Hancock and her partner Martin Griffiths.

After inflicting 103 injuries against his victims at the former marital home in Duffield, Derbyshire, the killer made a chilling 999 call and was covered in blood when he told a police officer arriving at the scene: "I'm hardly going to deny it; look at me."
