"He was a force of nature": 'One of a kind' Crocodile Dundee star dies

A legend from the film Crocodile Dundee has sadly passed away. Burt, the 5.1 meter, 700kg crocodile who featured in the 1986 comedic adventure movie, died in captivity in Darwin, Australia.

The enormous reptile was "estimated to be over 90 years old". Crocosaurus Cove, who had been caring for the croc since 2008, announced the news on Monday via a social media post.

They took to their Facebook page to write: "'It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Burt, the iconic Saltwater crocodile and star of the Australian classic Crocodile Dundee. "Burt passed away peacefully over the weekend, estimated to be over 90 years old, marking the end of an incredible era." Alongside the announcement of its passing, the animal attraction posted a heartfelt tribute to the crocodile.

According to DailyMail.com, they highlighted how Burt was "one of the most recognized crocodiles in the world", reports the Mirror US.
