Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, is reportedly dealing with a serious health issue while facing new charges. NBC News sources have alleged that Harvey has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia and that he is currently receiving treatment.
It is alleged that Harvey is receiving medical treatment at Rikers Island prison in New York, sources told NBC News. Allegations of sexual misconduct against him were made in the wake of the #MeToo movement.The National Cancer Institute classifies chronic myeloid leukaemia as a "type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes a large number of abnormal blood cells." Harvey's legal healthcare representative Craig Rothfeld told NBC News: "Out of respect for Mr.
Weinstein's privacy, we will offer no further comment." Now 72 years old, Harvey, who has previously overcome COVID-19 and double pneumonia, is awaiting retrial.
His health matters have coincided with his legal battle with Manhattan prosecutors, who are wanting to combine new charges with past ones for trial, reports Mirror US.
