Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t recoup the £2.4m they paid for renovations to Frogmore Cottage after their eviction, a royal expert has said.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, speaking exclusively to OK!, said that the monetary loss would be “a bit more punishment” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following the revelations in Harry’s book Spare.
Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, paid back £2.4m of taxpayers' money spent on renovating Frogmore Cottage, their UK home, after the pair stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020.
The Duke paid the bill in full by making a contribution to the Sovereign Grant, his spokesman said at the time. This week it was confirmed that King Charles has now asked the Sussexes to vacate Frogmore Cottage – the home they were gifted by the late Queen after they tied the knot in 2018.
