United struggled to match Newcastle's intensity when they were defeated at St. James' Park last season and Eddie Howe's side caused the same problems from the first whistle in Saturday night's meeting.
The North East side created plenty of chances and they were unfortunate not to be leading at half-time, but their pressure eventually paid off shortly after the interval when Anthony Gordon found the net.
