Harrison Ford has offered a blunt assessment regarding the disappointing reception to 2023’s Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny. The fifth Indiana Jones film, which saw the adventuring archaeologist looking for an artifact that alters time, made $384million at the box office, well below estimates.

Given the film’s budget of over $300million (including marketing), it was estimated to have lost around $143 million.Speaking to The Wall Street Journal about the film’s failure, the veteran star replied: “Shit happens”.

He would go on to say that he felt he was the one pushing for the film to be made.He explained: “I was really the one who felt there was another story to tell.

When (Jones) had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigour, to see what happened”.When asked about how he feels almost two years on from its release, he stated: “I’m still happy I made that movie”.NME’s four-star review described it as “a lively, enthralling tale with some particularly emotive scenes in the final act that are bound to cause a tear or two”.The star, who is known for the Star Wars and Jack Ryan films in addition to Indy, joins a new franchise as he plays President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World.
