John Lennon after being strongly linked to the role.Sam Mendes is set to direct a four-film series about The Beatles, with each film to tell the story of the band from a different band member’s perspective.

The project was announced in February and they will be the first films to be granted full life story and music rights for the Fab Four.Rumours have been swirling for several months about casting for the movies, with a June report linking Dickinson to the role of Lennon.The rising star has been drawing attention in recent years for his roles in films such as Triangle Of Sadness, Scrapper, Where The Crawdads Sing and The Iron Claw, and is currently starring in Steve McQueen’s World War Two drama Blitz and the Nicole Kidman erotic thriller Babygirl.It was at the latter film’s Los Angeles premiere on Wednesday (December 11) that Variety asked him directly about the role. “It would be amazing to do that,” he said. “I think the idea of Sam teaming up to do something like that would be incredibly exciting.

It would be cool.”He refused to confirm whether he had already committed to the project; however, he replied simply, “We’ll see.”The same June report suggested that Paul Mescal would play Paul McCartney in the films, Charlie Rowe would play George Harrison and Barry Keoghan would portray Ringo Starr.While all casting remains unconfirmed, the report appears to be near the mark, with Ridley Scott recently letting slip that he may not be able to cast Mescal in his next film The Dog Stars because “Paul is stacked up, doing the Beatles next”.Similarly, Starr has said in an interview that he has heard that Keoghan is “taking drum lessons” in.
