Dylan McGowan says Hamilton Accies aren’t producing the goods in the games that matter – and insists they must buck that trend fast if they are to stay in the League One title race.A disappointing 1-1 draw with Kelty Hearts on Saturday saw 10-man Accies slip five points behind leaders Falkirk, who have a game in hand.It came off the back of a painful 3-1 defeat at home to the Bairns the previous week and a lacklustre 0-0 draw at Alloa in the game before that.Accies were on course to see off Kelty thanks to Kevin O’Hara’s 62nd minute opener, but a red card for Accies midfielder Dylan Tait in 79 minutes was swiftly followed by a Craig Johnston equaliser for Kelty, in a game where the hosts hit the bar through Euan Henderson and passed up a number of big opportunities.Aussie defender McGowan says it simply isn’t good enough for a side of their quality and they need to start killing teams off in the big games, if they are to stay on Falkirk’s coattails.The 32-year-old said: “It is the story of the last couple of months for us, dropping points when we probably shouldn’t be.“We are dropping too many points at home as well and that game just kind of sums up how things have been going for us at the moment.“We’ve missed too many chances all season.
