Kyle MacDonald says Hamilton’s 2-0 win over Cove Rangers proves they have the character to battle it out with Falkirk for the League One title.Goals from Kevin O’Hara and Jamie Barjonas earned Accies a 2-0 win over third-placed Cove, opening up an 11-point lead on them, and cutting their deficit to Falkirk to nine points, with a game in hand over Stirling Albion on Saturday.The win came despite a straight red card being shown to former Rangers midfielder Ben Williamson on his debut – one the club will appeal – and MacDonald says they showed character.Williamson became Hamilton’s fifth red card this season, and midfielder MacDonald said: “It is tough and we’ve experienced that too many times this season, with Lee Kilday and Dylan Tait, then Ben comes in for his debut and that happens.“You do think the worst, because of the previous games, but you always have that inner belief that we’re good players and we can stand up to the challenge.“We showed that on Saturday, showed that to the fans, to Cove, that even when we do have our set-backs, we’re strong enough characters to go on and win a game.“We got that second goal that really sealed it.“We’ve got important players injured at the moment in Scott Martin, Ryan Fulton and Lee Kilday.
