Gwyneth Paltrow has agreed not to seek to recover legal costs from the retired optometrist who brought a high-profile civil lawsuit against her over a 2016 ski collision.
The Oscar-winning actress was awarded $1 in damages in March after a jury sided with her over Terry Sanderson, who sought more than $300,000 in damages, claiming that Ms Paltrow skied into him on a beginner run at the Deer Valley resort in Utah, leaving him with several broken ribs and head injuries.
Ms Paltrow, who brought a counter-claim seeking a token $1 in damages, was cleared of all fault by a jury after taking to the witness stand to insist that Mr Sanderson had actually skied into her.
She testified that at first, when the crash happened, she thought she was being “violated. ”Jurors voted unanimously to find Mr Sanderson “100 per cent at fault” for the collision, which Ms Paltrow said left her sore and unable to continue skiing for the day.
