The gunman who tried to assassinate Donald Trump searched for a member of the Royal family online while planning his attack, it has emerged.
Members of the US Congress released details of a briefing they had with the FBI, where they told 20-year-old Thomas Crooks had done a Google search for a member of the monarchy.
FBI agents trawling his online past found searches for FBI director Christopher Wray, the FBI director; US attorney-general Merrick Garland and a Royal, whose identity was not revealed.The US Secret Service, whose job is to protect political leaders and visiting heads of state or government, is under scrutiny after Crooks was able to open fire at a Trump rally in America.
One person was killed and two others critically injured while Trump, the President before Joe Biden, was wounded in the ear.
