At the start of lockdown, four centuries ago, we (I mean the fashion experts) were brimming with helpful advice on everything we knew about dressing for Zoom. ‘It’s all about earrings,’ we said. ‘You have to wear colour,’ we explained. ‘Try a statement collar,’ we suggested.
And a few weeks in: ‘For God’s sake, get a grip on your roots and do something about that moustache.’ I’m not saying we were wrong exactly, because a moustache on a woman – call me old-fashioned – is always quite tricky to carry off and best left to the likes of Frida Kahlo.
