Greater Manchester ranks as one of top UK cities for vegans

With Veganuary in full swing, researchers have ranked UK cities and concluded that Greater Manchester is the second best city for vegan eateries.

Veganuary takes place each year throughout the month of January and is a 31-day challenge ran by a non-profit organisation which aims to encourage more people to explore a plant-based lifestyle.

Iconic actor Joaquin Phoenix and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Billie Eilish are both ambassadors for the scheme. In 2024, around two thirds of Veganuary participants continued a plant-based lifestyle after January ended, which is made much easier if you live in a city with a lot of accessible vegan food.

A study from Furniture at Work has revealed which where in the UK is best for vegans and has ranked cities from one to ten in terms of how many vegan-friendly restaurants there are.
