Government shambles ruining Christmas with port backlogs and supermarket rationing

Almost 3,000 lorry drivers stranded in Kent with little food and water and one blocked toilet between them are facing a horrific Christmas in their cabs.

France today agreed to lift its travel ban at midnight, but insisted on a negative Covid-19 test for those entering the country.

Lateral flow tests are due to start at Dover tomorrow morning, but it could take days to clear the backlog of lorries stuck on the M20 and in Manston Airfield, now being used as an emergency HGV park.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said today: “We’ll be making sure that tomorrow we’re out there, providing tests. "This will take two or three days for things to be cleared.” What is your view?
