A teenage girl who was arrested after 'the release of a gas from an aerosol can' at a south Manchester high school has been released under investigation.
Pupils at St Paul's Catholic High School in Wythenshawe were evacuated as emergency services responded to the incident on Wednesday afternoon.
More than 80 people had to be assessed by paramedics as the North West Ambulance Service declared a critical incident. Two people were taken to hospital with breathing difficulties. READ MORE: School asks parents to collect pupils early amid Storm Eunice The school said pupils were evacuated from the building on Firbank Road, in Newall Green, as a 'precaution' following the 'suspected discharge of an aerosol in one area of the school'.
Greater Manchester Police said that a 13-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. She was taken to custody for questioning.
