The number of sex offenders being managed by Greater Manchester Police has doubled in the last 13 years, according to the latest government figures.
Some 4,407 registered sex offenders living in Greater Manchester in the year ending March 2024, the highest figure on record, compared to 4,114 the year before.
It means there are 173 registered sex offenders in the area for every 100,000 people, the highest of any metropolitan police force in the country.
A total of 1,972 sex offenders lived in Greater Manchester in the year to March 2011, the earliest year for which figures are available.
