Officers were patrolling close to Moss Bank Way, in Harpurhey, when they heard a noise that sounded like a firearm discharging at around 5.30pm on Wednesday afternoon (March 24).

A man carrying a black bin liner was spotted fleeing from the scene towards Vernon Street and officers gave chase. He tried to get into a black Ford Focus car, parked on Vernon Street, but the vehicle made off when police arrived and he continued to run away.
