Hillbilly Eleg, veteran actress Glenn Close has revealed that Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1999 Oscar win for Shakespeare in Love left her confused.
Close, who currently holds the record of being the most Oscar nominated actress in history without a win, wasn’t in the running against Paltrow that year but nevertheless shared her thoughts on the ceremony and the way winners can often be perplexing. “Well, I got nominated for my first movie which was The World According To Garp,” she said, referring to the 1983 film she starred in opposite Robin Williams. "I honestly feel that to be nominated by your peers is about as good as it gets.
