Glee stars Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale opened up about returning to set after losing costar Cory Monteith.
The actor, who brought Finn Hudson to life in the hit series, passed away at the age of 31 in July 2013. The following month, the cast returned to set to work on the fifth season.
In a new episode of their And That’s What You Really Missed podcast, Jenna and Kevin recalled the challenge of being in a spot where they spent so much time with Cory.
They explained how they handled the heartbreak and also reflected on the “strength” that Lea Michele (who dated Cory and was the main star of the show) displayed in the aftermath. Keep reading to find out more… Kevin noted that the cast was “all very much in the early stages of grieving” when they got back to set, via EW. “And then we’re back in the same places that we had spent so much time with Cory,” he said. Jenna said that she had no recollection of filming the first episode of the season, with Kevin noting that they were all “sort of on autopilot” at the time.
