A 16-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in Oldham. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Rochdale Road around 1.30pm on Thursday afternoon (February 23).
Two cars had been involved in a crash before one of the vehicles mounted the pavement and collided with the teenager at the junction with Crompton Street in Coldhurst, police said.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the girl was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The case has been referred to GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Rochdale Road was closed for a number of hours on Thursday afternoon as officers and detectives carried out their investigations at the scene of the smash.
