Georgios Giakoumakis transfer after Werder Bremen pulled the plug on a deal. As first revealed by Record Sport the Parkhead club are keen to sign last season's Eredivisie top-scorer, with manager Ange Postecoglou personally calling the player to sell him on a move.
The VVV Venlo striker also had an offer from fallen German giants Werder Bremen, but the Premiership runners-up have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Giakoumakis.
According to Dutch outlet Limburger the striker "can forget" moving to Germany as his salary demands were considered too high by the Bundesliga II side and Record Sport understands this is the case.
