There will be public memorial services held for George Floyd, whose death last week in the custody of Minneapolis police sparked nationwide protests, in the three cities where he lived.
Organizers announced Tuesday that official services will be held in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where Floyd was born; Houston, Texas, where he grew up; and Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he lived at the time of his death.
The Minneapolis memorial service will be Thursday, June 4; the Fayetteville memorial service will be Saturday, June 6; and the Houston memorial service, arranged by Fort Bend Memorial Planning Center, will be Monday, June 8.
