Gavin and Stacey's Ruth Jones has revealed the one thing she cut out from her diet to help her lose four stone. The 58-year-old who co-wrote the beloved BBC sitcom with James Corden, insists she lost weight the "old fashioned way" and decided to go on a calorie deficit after trying "loads of diets".Ruth, who is better known as Nessa, reduced her intake to around 1200 - 1500 calories per day with the recommended amount for women being 2000 calories each day, Surrey Live reports. This decision saw the actress slim down to a size 12 but there is one sugary food she eliminated from her eating plan altogether to achieve this - chocolate.Speaking about her weight loss journey on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware, Ruth revealed she sought help from hypnotherapist Paul McKenna.
She said: "One of the techniques he showed in this workshop, he asked us what our aims were and I said that if I could stop eating chocolate, I would be fine."So he said ‘ok I’m gonna show you all a technique - if you want to stop eating it, this is what’s gonna stop it for good’.
I was a bit cynical but did this whole process and one of the elements of this process was aversion therapy."He said think of something that you would hate eating and what you do is think of eating that then you think about eating the chocolate and you keep alternating.
My thing was mushy peas. I used that as my aversion and it worked. Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages. "I did not eat chocolate for five years, I couldn't stand the smell.
