Gary Neville believes Erik ten Hag could make "brutal" changes to the Manchester United squad this summer. Ten Hag will replace Ralf Rangnick as United boss after signing a three-year deal with the 13-time Premier League champions.
And Neville reckons his appointment could spell the end of the line for some of the club's stars who do not do the basics properly.Using the examples of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Neville says Ten Hag won't stand for those who can't press, don't have the required physicality or are unable to win the ball back quickly enough. "Obviously he will not be able to change everything in one transfer window," Neville began, speaking on Sky Sports before United's match with Chelsea on Thursday. "I think if you look at the stats compared to Ajax’s and you were in the Manchester United dressing room, you would be a little bit worried because, Ralf Rangnick came here as a pressing guru, and he has not been able to get that out of this group of players. Who do you think United need to get rid of in the summer?
Let us know in the comments section below"In fact, he has referred to them about their lack of physicality in recent interviews over the last few weeks, and if Erik Ten Hag is going to be brutal like Jurgen Klopp was when he got rid of Christian Benteke at Liverpool or when Pep Guardiola got rid of Joe Hart at Manchester City, he is going to let a lot of this Manchester United squad go because they can’t press high up the pitch, they don’t have that physicality, they don’t want to win the ball back."Neville added that Ten Hag's appointment could herald a sea change at Old Trafford.
