Gang of Four star Andy Gill’s widow, Catherine Mayer, has said she think it’s a real possibility that he could have had coronavirus, before he died.
The band’s founding member and guitarist died aged 64 at the beginning of February, with the official cause of death on his death certificate listed as multi-organ failure and pneumonia.
Andy suffered from chronic condition, sarcoidosis – where organs, including the lungs, are affected by inflammatory cells that form lumps, with Catherine revealing he mistook symptoms similar to those associated with Covid-19 for the disease. ‘I observed changes in Andy now associated with those hit hardest by Covid-19: low oxygen, lethargy, diminished appetite.
