Gang of armed thugs hunted by cops after masked 'murder bid' on Scots street

A gang of masked yobs are being hunted by police after a man was allegedly attacked with weapons on a street in Balloch. Police say the 23-year-old was seriously assaulted at around 3.05am on Wednesday, January 11, by a number of suspects who emerged from two vehicles on Dalvait Road.The cars were seen speeding off in the direction of Gartocharn while the victim was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment to a serious head injury.

He has since been released and Police Scotland say they are treating the incident as attempted murder.Investigators believe the alleged attack may be linked to an earlier incident which took place at around 11.20pm in Murroch Avenue in Dumbarton the day before.

The force says that two vehicles, with masked occupants, threatened people within a house and vandalised it before making off from the scene.Two men, aged 26 and 28 years have been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged attempted murder at this time and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Kieran Bewick at Clydebank CID said: “This was a particularly violent attack which left the victim with a serious head injury that required medical attention.“We believe that the assault on the 23-year-old man may be linked to another incident which occurred the evening before on Tuesday 10 January around 11.20 pm in Murroch Avenue, Dumbarton.
