Friends of Dunedin Park create blooming great green space for community

Green-fingered Friends of Dunedin Park have transformed the recreation area into a blooming beautiful space for the whole community to enjoy.In the last four years a team of 23 hard-working volunteers have given the rundown park a much-needed makeover and created a diverse, accessible area for locals to visit and enjoy the outdoors.Since the group’s inception in 2019, they have created a fairy wood for local children, a bat roost, bug palaces, willow shelters, wild garden areas and a community orchard with herb planters.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Friends of Dunedin also run community events such as family picnics, summer fun days, tree planting, carol singing and environmental days such as community litter picks.It is hoped fundraising events will help raise the £6000 needed to upgrade the decaying 50-year-old play park and install play equipment for kids with disabilities along with an outdoor gym.Secretary David White said: "Our group has been established for a little over four years and is working to make our local green space a diverse, accessible area which
