Frank McGarvey has passed away aged 66 following a battle with cancer, the Celtic legend's family have announced. The former Hoops star, St Mirren and Scotland striker was recently diagnosed with the disease and made an appearance on the Parkhead pitch before the Hoops' game against Hibs earlier this season, when he was given a rousing reception by the home fans.
At the time he spoke about his battle with pancreatic cancer and the warm reception from Celtic fans who sang 'You'll Never Walk Alone' in memory of the two-time title winner.
The Celtic favourite, who also featured for Clyde and Queen of the South, netted a century of goals for the Parkhead side while enjoying to spells at the Buddies.
Frank's son Sean took to social media to break the tragic news about his father. He tweeted: "Our much loved Dad sadly passed away this morning with his family by his side.
