A tearful Alonso was asked by the BBC about his thoughts on the Hoops after the full-time whistle: "I am extremely proud of my players. "We are without five players out that would normally be in the starting eleven.
The players that came in, they wore the Celtic shirt with pride and passion, and with heart. "They made everyone proud. It is just heartbreaking for me to not see them lift the title.
