Mick Kennedy hailed midfielder Callum Biggar after he announced his return from injury with a goal that helped put East Kilbride on the road to victory over St Cadoc’s on Saturday. The 21-year-old ex-Rangers youth player has been out since September after breaking his collarbone in a 2-2 draw at Linlithgow Rose, and was expected to be out until at least Christmas. But he recovered quicker than anticipated and netted EK’s third goal in a 5-2 win over the West of Scotland Premier side, having also won the penalty that Liam Brown converted for their second strike of the day.Nathan Flanagan opened the scoring inside 12 minutes with a trademark finish, cutting inside and curling the ball into the net, before Brown scored his third spot-kick in two games.St Cadoc’s – who are managed by ex-Kilby interim boss Martin Fellowes and are littered with former EK players including BJ Coll, Alan Lithgow and Bob McHugh – mounted a comeback to level things up at 2-2, thanks to goals from Lithgow and Richie McKillen. But Biggar fired EK back in front in 71 minutes before strikes from substitutes Marc Kelly and Adam McGowan in the final 10 minutes ensured their progress.Kennedy said: “Prior to Callum getting injured, he was scoring goals for us on a regular basis so we are delighted to have him back.“He is such a talented kid and I still can’t believe he is playing at our level of football, he is way beyond that, so we’re happy to have him.“It was his first game back and when you are coming back from an injury like that, where he has snapped his collarbone, there is a bit of nervousness and anxiousness about, and you are just happy to see him land on it a couple of times and get back up.“After he did that, he was fine and settled into the game
