Early in the search for their missing son, Jay Slater's family were joined in Tenerife by former police detective Mark Williams-Thomas as local authorities' efforts to locate him proved unsuccessful.

On Monday, in a heartbreaking development, Civil Guard officers have announced the discovery of human remains near Masca, which are feared to belong to the missing teenager.
