‘Forever grateful’ Mark Charnock thanks Emmerdale pal Gemma Atkinson for 'rescuing him'

Mark Charnock, who has played Marlon Dingle on Emmerdale since 1996, paid homage to fellow Emmerdale star Gemma Atkison on Instagram today.

In a post for her birthday, he described how he would “always be grateful” to the actress. The actor, 53, shared a witty birthday message to Gemma, 37, in a post to his 46,300 Instagram followers.

Next to an image of the two of them starring in Emmerdale, he wrote: “Happy birthday to Her Excellency @glouiseatkinson to whom I shall always be grateful for rescuing me from the forest”.

The “rescue” referred to a scene in the ITV soap in which Gemma’s character Carly Hope carried Marlon out of the woods. Only Gemma’s back can be seen in the snap, while Mark is pictured looking back in terror in a rather.
