Grub, the indie food fair on Cheetham Hill’s Red Bank, is set to host a fundraising event for those being affected by the fighting in Ukraine.

Grub4Ukraine is happening on March 9 and will bring together food vendors and music, with proceeds going to the International Committee of the Red Cross. “We are throwing everything we have at this night to raise as much money as we can, as soon as possible,” said event organiser Ellie Garfield-Ford. “Whether you’d like to donate, partake or simply attend, we’d love to see you there.” Funds donated will be used to help buy food, medicine and shelter for those in desperate need of it.

100% of the turnover from the night will go to charity. Some of the city’s best breweries are getting involved, supplying beer for the event, including Blackjack, Beatniks Republic, Squawk, Left Handed Giant, Manchester Union, Runaway, Neon Raptor, Vocation, Fierce, Neptune and the Alphabet Brewing Co.

There will also be some beer-based raffle prizes being given away too. Baker of wild birthday cakes Charlotte O’Toole - aka Bakeorama - will also be pledging a personalised birthday cake to a raffle winner, while among those already signed up to provide music are the Chow Down crew.
