Floyd Mayweather has reportedly joined basketball legend Michael Jordan in becoming a NASCAR team owner. The undefeated former boxing champion’s long-anticipated foray into the world of auto racing comes with the launch of his The Money Team Racing team, having teased it from as early as March 2020.Mayweather joins musician Pitbull and fellow former athlete-turned-business mogul Jordan in becoming the latest celebrity NASCAR team owner over the last two years. The 44-year-old’s ambitions came to a brief halt due to the pandemic, but a photo of the car was posted on Monday with the caption: “The wait is almost over.”The Money Team Racing team is expected to make its first appearance on the Daytona 500 speedway later this month, competing in the No.50 Chevrolet. It has secured a major sponsorship from sunglasses company Pit Viper, though the team does not have a charter guaranteeing it a spot in the field and will run Daytona as an open car.But Mayweather remains hopeful that the car can race its way into qualifying for a spot in the 40-car field. He told NASCAR: “I love fast cars and I love to compete.
I know NASCAR will not be easy, but anything easy isn’t worth doing to me.With that being said, this move into auto racing seems to be a perfect fit for the Mayweather brand.”Do you think Floyd Mayweather will succeed in his NASCAR venture?
