Flooded Rochdale street has water service resumed as residents placed in temporary housing

Water supply has been restored and floods drained following a clean up operation on Gerrard Street in Rochdale. The road was hit by floods from a burst water main in the early hours of Monday morning, with residents saying that this is not the first time the street has been flooded.

A resident on flood-stricken Gerrard Street told the Manchester Evening News that the street still looks "like sh*t, but at least we have water".

They added that crews had worked 'through the night' to fix the leak from a pipe located between a row of houses and the M62.

Some homes were severely affected by the floods, which rose to several feet deep when the water was at its highest. United Utilities told the M.E.N.
