'Flake number plates?': Ice cream van driver caught speeding in Salford

An ice cream van driver faces coughing up some lolly after being caught speeding by road traffic cops. A red Mr Whippy van was caught travelling at 62mph along the A6 Broad Street in Salford by Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) traffic unit.

Officers joked they could not “con-done” the poor quality of the driving. And social media users also poked fun at the speeding vendor with a flurry of replies, with one asking: "Was it being driven with flake number plates?" One Twitter user joked it would have been more appropriate if the van was travelling at 99mph, in reference to the classic ice cream.

Another quipped: “He or she will get their just desserts.” A third said: “Flaky evidence at best. 99 problems but the van ain’t one.
