The flag above Manchester Crown Court is flying at half mast this afternoon as a mark of respect to the victims of Lucy Letby.
It comes as the neonatal nurse is set to be taken from the court building to begin spending the rest of her life in prison. The former neonatal nurse, now the most prolific child killer of modern times, was today (Monday, August 21) handed 14 whole-life prison terms for the murder of seven babies and seven counts of attempted murder against six others.
The court heard statements from the families of her victims before Mr Justice James Goss told her she would die behind bars. He said she acted "in a way that was completely contrary to the normal human instincts of nurturing and caring for babies" and said the "cruelty and calculation" of her actions were "truly horrific".
The families told her 'you are nothing' and described her as 'evil' and 'disconnected from God' As a mark of respect to her victims, the union flag above the court building in Crown Square near Spinningfields is being flown at half-mast.
