A seven-year-old schoolboy collapsed and died of a cardiac arrest in his classroom, an inquest has heard. 'Fit and healthy' Patryk Milner, from Sandbach, Cheshire collapsed at around 9.50am on September 30, 2020, during a lesson at Offley Primary Academy.
Teacher David Ellis had to perform emergency CPR on Patryk with the aid of other staff members after he became unconscious, Warrington Coroner's Court heard it was the teacher's first day at the school.
Patryk was taken by ambulance to Leighton Hospital and then to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where they managed to restart his circulation, Cheshire Live reports.
However the damage to his brain was too severe caused by having been in cardiac arrest for 40 minutes.He died in hospital 36 hours after being transferred.Describing how the tragedy unfolded in the classroom, Mr Ellis told the court: "We had just finished the first lesson and I asked the children to pack away."He leaned across the desk and his arm outstretched.
