Celebrity Gogglebox star and comedian Chris McCausland has been confirmed as the first official celebrity to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing's new series. The comic, who is best known for his appearances on Have I Got News for You and Would I Lie To You, is set to be one of the first blind celebrities to take part on the show.
Chris, 47, appeared on This Morning to announce the news, revealing that him taking part was "the worst kept secret" as he was heavily rumoured to be in the line-up.
In a statement, Chris said that he has never danced before. "If anybody out there is thinking - How the hell is he going to do that? - then rest assured that I am thinking exactly the same thing," he said. "I don't dance, I haven't danced, I can't dance, I can't see the dancing I will have to do.
What can possibly go wrong? Ok don't answer that…!" Back in June, Chris was rumoured to be the first blind contestant on Strictly Come Dancing with BBC bosses reportedly "delighted" by the signing and hoping to "showcase disability on TV".
