First picture of woman who died after horror crash on Scots road that left three others injured

A woman who died following a horror crash in the Borders has been named by police.Yvonne Nicol, 64, passed away following the three-vehicle accident on the A7, near the Ashkirk junction, at around 3.45pm on Tuesday, August 15.

Yvonne, from Hawick, was the driver of a Vauxhall Astra. She was rushed to Borders General Hospital where she later died. A 65-year-old male passenger within the same car suffered serious injuries.

The 71-year-old female driver of a Nissan Juke was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to serious injuries.

The 30-year-old male driver of a Ford Ranger sustained minor injuries but did not require to go to hospital.He has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries.Police enquiries into the crash remain ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101, quoting incident number 2563 of August 15, 2023.
