Man City reacted to their shock 5-2 defeat to Leicester last weekend by forking out £65million on new centre-back Ruben Dias - who was thrown straight in for his debut at Leeds on Saturday.
Dias’s signing took Pep Guardiola’s spending on defenders over the £400m mark, but there has never been as much pressure on his previous acquisitions.
Already the 23-year-old has been billed as the belated replacement for City legend Vincent Company - a significantly hard act to follow.
