Netflix has announced the launch of Breakout, a new programme designed to seek out and fund new UK filmmaking talent.The streaming giant is partnering with non-profit organisation Creative UK, a merger between Creative England and Creative Industries Federation, on the low-budget filmmaking and training project.An open application process will see six teams receive £30,000 in development funding to take part in an intensive training and professional development programme (per Deadline), delivered by Creative UK.Residential workshops, mentoring, support and input, including from Netflix executives, will be provided in pursuit of “bold, distinctive” new UK talent, with at least one film to be greenlit with an approximate £1.5m budget and a global launch on the Netflix.Breakout will be open to creative teams whose work has already garnered industry or public attention, but have yet to make a funded feature.

The C2C: Country to Country Festival has been postponed. Officials for the multi-country music festival, that was set to kick off Friday, cite the coronavirus, the changing nature of travel policies and travel bans to certain areas as the reason.Eric Church, Luke Combs and Darius Rucker were scheduled to headline the London, Dublin and Glasgow dates of the festival beginning Friday.“Due to the global pandemic of COVID-19 and the changing nature of travel policies in other countries alongside possible extended future restrictions, it is with regret that Country to Country Festival 2020 – London, Dublin and Glasgow – is being postponed," festival organizers said in a statement.

Eric Church believes country music should dive deeper into more serious subject matter and is using his new single “Stick That in Your Country Song" to deliver his message. On his track, the singer-songwriter urges fellow country artists to cover topics such as social injustice issues people are facing in cities like Detroit and Baltimore, veterans having a difficult time returning from war and teachers being underpaid.
