First Bus cancels services in Glasgow as Storm Eowyn set to batter city with 100 mph winds

First Bus has announced that all their services will be cancelled in Glasgow tomorrow due to the red weather warning.Storm Eowyn is set to batter parts of Scotland tomorrow, Friday, August 23, and the Met Office has several wether warnings in place across the country.The bus operator has now joined Scotrail in 'temporarily suspending' its services tomorrow after taking advice from the police.The danger to life weather warning will come into place at 10am tomorrow morning but First Bus say all of their routes in the Greater Glasgow area will stop at 8am to allow drivers to return the vehicles to their depots.

Duncan Cameron, First Bus Scotland managing director, added: "Following strong advice from the relevant authorities including the First Minister and Police Scotland, First Bus will be temporarily suspending all services across Greater Glasgow ahead of the red weather warning. "We’re advising all passengers to follow the advice given by not travelling tomorrow.

Our network of routes will begin to be withdrawn from 0800 to allow us to return all vehicles and colleagues to their depots safely."Services will not resume until after the worst of the weather has passed and routes have been assessed as safe for operations to recommence.

Pending the status of the red weather warning, we expect services to gradually be reinstated after approximately 1800."Please continue to visit firstglasgow.com and our Twitter/X feed for ongoing regular updates." The rare red weather warning for wind comes into force at 10am tomorrow, lasting until 5pm.
