A street has been closed off after bricks fell from the gable end of a house during Storm Eowyn. Fierce winds battered the UK and Ireland on Friday (January 24).

The Met Office issued a rare red alert in Scotland and Northern Ireland - with the rest of the UK hit by amber or yellow warnings for wind.

Greater Manchester avoided the worst of the weather, but gusty gales still caused havoc in the region - with disruption to flights, trams and trains.

In Moston, emergency services were called out after bricks collapsed from an end-of-terrace house. Firefighters attended the scene on Moston Lane, at the corner with Ilkley Street, at around 12.45pm on Friday.
