Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has issued a warning ahead of gale force winds and heavy rain forecast tomorrow. Storm Eowyn is set to bring winds as high as 60mph to the region, with a yellow Met Office weather warning for wind in place on Friday (January 24).

People are being warned to avoid travelling where possible and prepare for the possibility of flooding as the 'winter weather bomb' batters the UK.

Fire and rescue bosses have now issued essential safety advice and precautions for those planning on travelling during the storm.

In a post on Facebook, the service said: "With the arrival of Storm Eowyn tomorrow we’re expecting to see some very strong winds across Greater Manchester with yellow and amber warnings in place."It’ll also be pretty wet out there both today and tomorrow, with the possibility of some localised flooding.
