Fire service called and guests evacuated after 'alarm fault' at major city centre hotel

A number of fire crews were deployed on blue lights to a hotel in Manchester city centre this evening. The M.E.N understands that guests were evacuated from their rooms at the Doubletree Hotel, near Piccadilly station after the alarm was incorrectly sounded.

Guests staying overnight at the hotel were then pictured stood on the street outside as they waited for information. One person staying overnight said they have been told they had to wait outside until they were given the green light to go back in by staff.

The hotel had to follow protocol after the alarm was sounded and evacuate guests.
