Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Screwfix in Irlam on Saturday (14 March) after it was ram raided by burglars.
The thieves had rammed the front gate of the closed hardware store and set off the security system which activated a fog like substance as a deterrent.
GMFRS and GMP were called to the scene at around 8pm, the store was closed and no employees were inside. According to GMFRS there was no fire at the incident and they were called to put out the synthetic smoke.
The MEN understands that the assailants had used a saw to get through the gates of the compound, before they repeatedly rammed the shutters of the store in attempts to gain entry.
